Easy, quick and delicious these Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are perfect for a lunchtime treat or midnight snack. The peanut butter goes perfectly with the sweet marshmallows and crunchy rice cereal!

close up stack of peanut butter rice krispies

Welcome to one of the most addicting things you will ever eat, I never thought I could outdo brown butter rice Krispies, in fact when I made these I was ready to give the whole tray away. Then I tasted them. Then I almost fell to the floor with sheer love for these peanut butter rice krispies.

The peanut butter against the marshmallow is just about perfect. The peanut butter also helps make them not overly sweet. Aka you can eat 15 pieces and feel fabulous.

I like a really soft, extra marshmallow gooey rice krispy treat, the last thing I want is a hard one that is hard to bite into.

So this recipe calls for more butter and marshmallows then most other recipes. But it's so worth it.

    Let's get to the recipe.

🍴What are the ingredients for Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats

    • Butter
    • Pinch of Salt
    • Mini Marshmallows, divided
    • Creamy Peanut Butter
    • Rice Krispies or Rice Cereal

📖How do you make Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats

Place 10oz marshmallows in a large bowl and leave the rest in the bag. Grease a 9X13 pan with non-stick spray.

melted butter in browning in an enameled cast iron pot on a marble surface

In a large pot over medium heat add your stick of butter and cook for a couple of minutes, stirring frequently until the butter has melted.

mini marshmallows in a large pot

Add marshmallows and salt to butter, stirring until mostly melted. Add the peanut butter and mix until fully melted and combined.

Add the rice cereal, mix that a few times not all the way.

Before it has completely combined add the remaining marshmallows.

mini marshmallows added to rice krispies mixture

Continue mixing until every rice cereal is coated, you will still have chunks of marshmallows- thanks to the ones you just added. Pour into the prepared pan.

I use the back of a spatula to gently press down evenly to an even layer.

Now the hard part cover with pan with plastic wrap and let cool for an hour before cutting.

⏲️ Can you make Peanut Butter Rice Krispies ahead of time

If you are serving them the next day I prefer to cut that next day. Keeps them fresher. Store in an airtight container for a few days, but they probably won't last that long. These are my favorite plastic containers.

Yummy! I used coco pops instead of rice krispies and I loved it. It was also big hit at work with my colleagues. I'll be definitely doing those again...and again...and again.
