plate full of peanut butter chocolate rice krispy treats.

When my kids are interested in baking or cooking with me, I love a no-bake treat. Generally, they are easier and quicker, so it's a win for me when there are multiple kids in the kitchen! These peanut butter chocolate rice krispie treats are full of the delicious flavor combination we all love. They are delicious and sweet, so perfect to serve a crowd or make on a Sunday and enjoy all week!

    Let's get to the recipe

    Ingredients Notes

For these extra decadent Rice Krispies Treats you will need:

    • Mini Marshmallows. You'll divide the marshmallows between two parts of the recipe, first to make the sauce and then towards the end, so you end up with gooey marshmallow bits in the final product. You could use large marshmallows and cut them up for when you mix the remaining marshmallows into the treats.
    • Cocoa Powder. When testing this recipe I tried with and without cocoa powder. Adding cocoa powder gives an intense chocolate flavor to the treats.
    • Cocoa Rice Krispies. Now you could get away with just using regular Rice Krispies cereal but I love Cocoa Krispies.

    Tips for Recipe Success

    • Use good quality ingredients for the best flavor.
    • These are a thick, dense Rice Krispies Treat. If you want a gooey-er one, add more marshmallows to the sauce.

    More Recipes

These Rice Krispies treats are perfect for a dessert table at a party. I would pair them alongside something not so chocolatey or peanut buttery, like these funfetti cookies or lemon crumb bars.

    • Total Time: 1 Hour 20 Minutes
    • Yield: 16-24 Pieces 1x

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 6oz Salted Butter
    • 16oz Mini Marshmallows, divided
    • ⅓ Cup Cocoa Powder
    • 6oz (¾ Cup) Creamy Peanut Butter, divided
    • 1 Cup Chocolate Chips, divided
    • 8.5oz (8 Cups) Cocoa Rice Krispies

    Instructions

    1. Place 10oz marshmallows in a large bowl and leave the rest in the bag, and your Cocoa Rice Krispies in another large bowl set aside. Line with parchment paper or grease a 9X13 pan with non-stick spray.
    2. In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and cook for a few minutes, stirring frequently until just melted. Add the 10oz of marshmallows to the butter, stirring until melted.
    3. Once the majority of your marshmallows have melted, add the first ½ Cup (4oz) of peanut butter and cocoa powder. Mix until fully melted, then add the chocolate chips. Mix cocoa rice cereal and remaining marshmallows. Once combined, spoon in the remaining ¼ cup (2oz) of peanut butter and gently swirl.
    4. Pour into the prepared pan. And using a spatula, press down evenly. Drizzle melted peanut butter on top of the bars, if desired. Cover with plastic wrap and let cool for an hour before cutting. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
