  • Total Time: 30 Minutes
  • Yield: 16 Cinnamon Rolls 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale

Cinnamon Rolls

  • 1 Box of Puff Pastry/ 2 Puff Pastry Sheets
  • 2oz (1/4 Cup) Salted Butter, melted
  • 100 grams (1/2 Cup) Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Large Egg

Icing

  • 120 grams (1 Cup) Confectioner's Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2-3 Tablespoons Heavy Whipping Cream or Milk

Instructions

  1. Most puff pastry in the United States comes in the frozen section so you may need to thaw your puff pastry for an hour or so before you start if yours is frozen.
  2. Preheat the oven to 415°F/213C and line a baking sheet with a silicone liner or parchment paper and set aside.
  3. In a small bowl mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon, set aside.
  4. On a clean work surface, sprinkle some flour and lay the first puff pastry sheet down, I roll the Trader Joe’s sheets just a little out but don’t with the Pepperidge farms sheets. Using a pastry brush or your clean fingers spread half of the melted butter on the pastry sheet then sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture and use your clean hand to press the cinnamon sugar mixture into the pastries, so it sticks to the melted butter.
  5. Roll the pastry up long ways, I like to cut the ends off to make the pastry roll even. Then cut into eight pieces. Repeat with the second sheet of puff pastry and remaining cinnamon sugar. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet and store in the freezer while you wait for the oven to finish preheating
  6. In a small bowl mix together the egg and a splash of water to create an egg wash. Use a pastry brush to brush the egg wash on each puff pastry cinnamon roll before baking. Once the oven is hot enough bake for 15 to 19 minutes. The pastry should be golden brown once it's done baking. Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool before drizzling.
  7. In a small bowl mix together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. You can add a splash more of cream if you want a thinner glaze. Drizzle on top of the puff pastry cinnamon rolls. Best enjoyed immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Leftovers best warmed up in the toaster oven.

Notes

  • Make these ahead of time. Make the puff pastry cinnamon rolls, cut them up then chill them in the freezer until frozen then store in an airtight freezer safe container. You can bake from frozen too!
  • Reheat them. The toaster oven or normal oven at 300F for 8-12 minutes is my favorite way. You can microwave them but the pastry will end up soft and soggy.
