Apple Topping
- 1 Medium-Large Crisp Apple, I prefer Honey Crisp or Granny Smith Apple
- 1oz (2 Tablespoons) Maple Syrup
- 1oz (2 Tablespoons) Salted Butter
- 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
Oatmeal
- 100 grams (1 Cup) Old-Fashioned Oats
- 18oz (2 1/4 Cups) Water
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- In a large pot add the diced apples, butter and maple syrup and cook over low-medium heat for 4-6 minutes, stirring frequently. You want the apples to slightly soften. Add in the cinnamon and toss to combine. Scoop the apples and majority of the liquid out and place into a bowl.
- To the pot add the oats, water, salt, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Cook over low-medium heat for 4-6 minutes, until the oats have soaked up most of the liquid and cooked through.
- Divide the oats between two bowls and top with the apples and more cinnamon. Add chopped nuts if desired.
