The sweet taste of apples is the star of this apple cinnamon oatmeal recipe, flavored with cinnamon and maple syrup!

  • Total Time: 20 Minutes
  • Yield: 2 Servings 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale

Apple Topping

  • 1 Medium-Large Crisp Apple, I prefer Honey Crisp or Granny Smith Apple
  • 1oz (2 Tablespoons) Maple Syrup
  • 1oz (2 Tablespoons) Salted Butter
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

Oatmeal

  • 100 grams (1 Cup) Old-Fashioned Oats
  • 18oz (2 1/4 Cups) Water
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. In a large pot add the diced apples, butter and maple syrup and cook over low-medium heat for 4-6 minutes, stirring frequently. You want the apples to slightly soften. Add in the cinnamon and toss to combine. Scoop the apples and majority of the liquid out and place into a bowl.
  2. To the pot add the oats, water, salt, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Cook over low-medium heat for 4-6 minutes, until the oats have soaked up most of the liquid and cooked through.
  3. Divide the oats between two bowls and top with the apples and more cinnamon. Add chopped nuts if desired.
