Combine the dry ingredients

Mix together the cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

 Beat the butter and sugar on medium speed for 4-5 minutes

Add the oil and mix until combined. Add the vanilla and the eggs (one at a time) mixing after each addition until combined.

Mix together the sour cream and buttermilk in a separate bowl.

 Add ⅓ of the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix to combine before doing the same with ½ of the buttermilk mixture. Repeat until you are out of ingredients.

Put it all together.

Step 5

Divide the cake batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.


Step 6

Beat the cream cheese and butter, and add the powdered sugar. Mix in the rest. Add the salt, heavy cream, and vanilla extract and mix for 2 minutes.

Make the Frosting

 Spread a generous layer of frosting over one layer of cake. Stack the other layer on top. Spread the remainder over the top and sides of the cake
